The death occurred on Saturday
morning, of Margaret McIntyre, wife of the late
Thomas Clint, at her
home, 55 George Street East. About twelve days ago the late Mrs. Clint
fell and dislocated her hip and suffered other injuries and had been
confined to her bed since. Although no hope was given since the
accident, the death came as a shock to her friends and neighbors as
she had been conscious up to the last. The deceased was born in North Elmsley on the old McIntyre farm, eighty nine years ago, where she
lived until her marriage to the late Thomas Clint sixty-seven years
ago. To this union were born nine children – seven girls and two boys
– of whom seven are still living. For thirty years the deceased and
her husband lived in Montague on their farm, moving to Smith Falls
thirty-seven years ago, to the home on 55 George Street East. The late
Mr. Clint died six years ago. The late Mrs. Clint was a staunch
Presbyterian, a good wife and loving mother. To her neighbors she was
always kind and helpful, a true and good friend and a most hightly
respected citizen. There survived two boys and five girls – Duncan and
John, Flint, Mich.; Mrs. J. Farrell, Mrs. R. Farrell town; Mrs. W.H.
Perrin, New Liskeard, Misses Mary and Tena at home. The beautiful
floral offerings sent showed the high esteem in which the late Mrs.
Clint was held. They were as follows: Pillow, family; wreath, Mr. and
Mrs. J.O. Church and Amy; sprays, Mrs. P. Walsworth and Mrs. J.
Fairman (grandchildren); Mrs. And Mrs. Free, Perth; cross, Mrs.
Stewart and Mrs. Johnson, Flint. Mich., (grandchildren); mound, Mrs.
Goddard and Arthur Perrin (grandchildren) ; baskets, neighbors;
Eastern Stars, Mr. J. Hanna and Miss Hanna. The funeral was held from
the late home, 55 George Street East, this afternoon at two o’clock.
The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. McNabb and interment make in
the family plot in the Public cemetery. The pall-bearers were Messrs,
J. McEwan, W.F. McDonald, O.C. Abbott, E.H. Bolton, J. Shields and R.A.
Vanluven.
